Capture the operating pattern
Record ambient conditions, road speed, load, idle time, heater output, warning behavior, recent work, and whether the symptom changes while moving.
The condition is described well enough to separate low-speed, load-related, slow-warm-up, and unpredictable patterns.
Pattern determines whether airflow, circulation, control, sensor, or another branch deserves the next test; a gauge position alone is not enough.
Compare cold-start data
With the engine fully cold, compare supported temperature data with ambient conditions and inspect for obvious wiring, connector, or coolant concerns without opening the system.
The reported starting condition is plausible for the exact vehicle and the safety boundary is preserved.
An implausible input can change fan, fueling, and warm-up behavior, but the reading still does not identify a failed sensor by itself.
Observe warm-up and airflow safely
Use the exact vehicle strategy to observe warm-up, fan commands, heater output, and changes at safe operating conditions; keep clear of moving and hot parts.
The observed pattern can be compared with the vehicle’s documented behavior rather than a universal internet threshold.
A fan that runs or does not run at one moment is not proof of a failed fan, relay, sensor, thermostat, or module.
Correlate evidence before choosing the next test
Compare scan data, safe physical observations, and the original symptom pattern, then choose pressure, electrical, combustion-gas, or exact control testing only when supported.
The next test addresses a specific unresolved branch and preserves the original evidence.
Temperature observations narrow the path; they do not authorize replacing a thermostat, pump, radiator, fan, or sensor without the applicable test.
